Chronic Low-Grade Inflammation: Could It Be Affecting You?

Chronic Low-Grade Inflammation: Could It Be Affecting You?

Chronic low-grade inflammation can quietly sit in the background of your health. Unlike the obvious inflammation that comes with an injury, it can build gradually and may be influenced by several areas of your lifestyle at the same time.

Where does it come from?

Diet can play a major role, particularly when it is high in processed foods, refined carbohydrates, excess sugar and alcohol. Poor sleep, ongoing stress, lack of movement, excess abdominal fat and poor metabolic health can also contribute.

Physical problems matter too. Persistent injuries, repetitive strain, poor movement patterns and ongoing tissue irritation can all add to the inflammatory load on the body.

What might you notice?

Ongoing aches and stiffness, fatigue, poor recovery, digestive problems or bloating, poor-quality sleep, headaches and difficulty regulating weight can sometimes occur alongside chronic inflammation.

These symptoms don’t automatically mean inflammation is the cause, but they can be a sign that it’s worth looking more closely at your overall health.

Small changes can make a big difference

Reducing processed foods and increasing vegetables, berries, quality proteins, omega-3-rich foods, extra-virgin olive oil, herbs and spices is a great starting point.

Combine this with regular movement, better sleep, stress management and addressing persistent physical problems rather than simply putting up with them.

At Thrive Wellness Centre, we look at the bigger picture.
